Hello friends,

I am glad to write to you all after almost year. I would like to take your guidance about case of our close friend.

Our friend got asylum based green card 8 years ago. She has been in this country since 1995.
She went through the divorce 2 years back. Now she is going to apply for her Citizenship.

She is working at gas station/convinience store for last 2 years. She is also getting around 1100 $ alumini for herself and kids.

Before 2 years for around 1 1/2 years she had no source of income. Before that her ex-husband has shown her as a partner at his small shop for tax benifit.

How complex do you think this case is?
How should she prepare for the Citizenship interview?

I appreciate your responses.

Regards,
Freenation.

Not complex at all based on the facts you've given, and assuming there are no other complications. Since she has been divorced, and has been a permanent resident for over 5 years, she can file as a 5 year permanent resident. No tax information required unless there are breaks in continuous presence in the US or questions about non-filing of taxes. Her past unemployment should not be a complication.

As sunny808 said, it shouldn't be a problem at all. However, on a non-immigration front, she may want to clarify if the money she is receiving is actually alimony or child support. Alimony is taxable income (with a corresponding tax deduction for the payer) whereas child support isn't. If she classifies it incorrectly she could end up paying either too much or too little tax.
