Hello there,
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and hopefully answer my question. I just recently got conditions removed from my GC and now have a permanent one. We have 3 little kids together and I love them more than anything. They're both US citizens just as my wife is.
My question is: What would happen if I, hypothetically, wanted to get a divorce from my wife? What are my options here? BTW, I am from Bangladesh originally, not that it should really matter. I understand that there doesn't need to be a "reason" for divorce and that one could always pull the "Irreconcilable Differences" card. Is that so or do you REALLY need to have a specific reason?
So how would I go about getting a divorce and will my wife HAVE to sign the papers in order for divorce to be finalized? Sorry I am very 'law-illiterate'. After the divorce, what happens to my GC? Do I get kicked out of the country or continue living here. There is another female US citizen who takes a strong liking to me and I like her too. Although we are both married at this point but there is a possibility that if one gets a divorce from their spouse, the other will follow suit.
What would be the best course of action at this point, without eventually getting kicked out of the country. Also, if I did in fact go through with divorce, will that in any way affect my eligibility for US Citizenship even though I still have a few years to go for that?
Thanks very much for your kindness and willingness to answer my questions. I appreciate it!
