Divorce after Citizenship

Hi all!
I am a naturalized USC. I am currently married (5+ years) with 2 children. I got the GC through my marriage to my wife. I also applied for USC based on 3-year marriage rule, and I did my oath in March 09.

Due to various factors, it seems that a divorce in my marriage is a possibility. I am trying to get an opinion if this can hurt my USC in any way.

Any comment is really appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. I was primarily worried because I applied after 3 years based on marriage instead of the regular 5 years. That's all. Thanks again.

Your USC would potentially be in jeopardy if you did not disclose at interview or oath that you were already formally separated at the time and USCIS found out about it afterwards.

Once you are naturalized, you are done with the uscis unless you get the attension of the attorney general. Also you may get the attension of God if you divorce you wife with two children and through which you got your citizenship. good luck

It is too late too worry anyway so get it done with. No matter how perfectly you manage, life is not risk-free and we are
all hdeading toward old ages.

So put this behind and go on with yoru life. If the worst can happnes, class that into categories like car accident, air crash, early death from cancer, stroke etc, which will occur to a signoficant portion of us no matterwhat.

This divorce will have no impact on your US citizenship status.

Unless the divorce (which is a public record) leads USCIS to discover that they were already separated or filed for divorce before taking the citizenship oath. If that happens they can revoke citizenship.

Looks like the OP got his citizenship in 2009, not 2010. So, I think he must be ok as the divorce is only a possibility now, not in 2009.

Thanks guys.
No, we were never separated, and we are still together at this moment.

This was my assumption based on what you had said and given it's been a year since you naturalized, you have nothing to worry about the citizenship.
