Discrepancies between CSC approval letters and USCIS automated system

Hi ,

I received a letter couple of weeks back from USCIS that my I-130 petition has been approved and forwarded to NVC (National Visa Center) on 1st FEB 2005. I called NVC automated phone number on 28th FEB 2005 and it still says that the approved case is not been received yet from USCIS. So I called USCIS customer service number and they informed me that my I-130 petition has not yet been approded yet! (at least thats what their system says).

When I questioned that how can I get a letter from CSC(California Service Center) which state's that the petition has been approved and forwarded to NVC, they were unable to provide me an answer.

Then the USCIS lady suggested me that send a written letter to CSC to forward my case to NVC. I am little reluctant to do that knowing about the cases where USCIS literally misplaced the petition files. I am surprised that the system is so mismanaged that I have to send the a letter to the Service Center to forward my case to NVC even though their letter states that they have already forwarded.

I badly need some suggestions from guys out there who knows how this system works or who have some kind of similar experiences.

Regards

Kan

The customer service people can only give you a generic advice.
They do not have an access to your file.
Call them back and ask to be forwarded to CSC.
Ask CSC officer about your petition, they will tell you.
Also – did you check the status of your I-130 on the USCIS website?
Does it say “approved” or not?

Jane,

Thanks for your reply, I will call USCIS and ask them to forward my call to CSC Officer.

For your other question , USCIS Online system does not show that my petition is approved . Surprisingly I have a hard copy from CSC stating my I-130 petition is approved and forwarded to NVC on FEB-1st-2005(Priority date on petition is 22-NOV-2004 and online CSC status shows they are now processing JAN-4th-2005 applications.)

I called USCIS and asked to transfer my call to CSC and they said CSC lines are not open to public and also they dont have a way to transfer calls to CSC. :(

Is there any one who have received an USCIS case approval in Jan/FEB and also received their NVC correspondence.

Try again

Sorry to hear that, Kan.
My I-130 was processed in California Service Center as well.
And I too had a problem with those people. But the opposite of yours.
My status on the web changed, but they never sent me a hard copy.
I waited a whole month, and then I called that toll free number. The operator herself offered me to be transferred to the Service. I talk to the officer in CSC. He said they will respond to my request within a month. Month later – nothing happened.
I called that toll free number again and this time I myself asked to be transferred to the CSC. Nobody refused or said they don’t do it. I got transferred without problems.
Week later my approval finally came in a mail. It all happened in November –January.
So, whomever you spoke on a phone today – lied to you, or maybe it’s up to the operator's discretion whatever or not to grant a transfer request.
Call them back, another day and another time (best days to call are Wednesday and Thursday).
It is true that they do not want people just to call them up all the time, but with little persistence and extra politeness you’ll get your answers eventually. Call them back and keep us posted of your progress.
Good luck!

Hi Jane ,

Thanks for your reply, because USCIS didnt provide me any help. I thought of calling NVC on MAR-7 again and this time it was a lucky day for me , NVC received the approval and they created the case number for my application.

USCIS online system still shows that my petition is pending for approval . So there is a big gap or flaw in online system of USCIS which provides case status.

Kan
