disappointing interview

I had my interview done today and everything went well. Surprisingly, the IIO didn't ask anything/any docs. But finally said, my security checks are pending. I overlooked one of the document, saying

1. Form G258 V (must be verified)
2. FBI Name Check V(must be verified)
3. IBIS .... empty so this must be pending.

How long does it take to complete the IBIS checking?

I am really disappointed, I don't know why USCIS can't complete everything and then send out interview letters.

MY rd/nd are Feb'02 and case was xfered from TSC to VSC.

Anybody has exp of the situation?

Waiting here too .Its been a month now.
No stamp....
and now nothing.
Just waiting....with no end in sight
 
The officer told me he needs to runa Back ground check......
I guess the same as name check/security check etc etc....

the iio told me that it may take a week to couple of months. told me that needs to get visa number etc.

iio was very confused and wasn't ready to answer my questions....
 
My officer was confused too. I guess the only thing pending is My back ground check .at least that is what I think!!!!!.
I have actually given up now.....dont even expect the approval letter....
Dont care anymore......
am going on with my life......I have already spend too much time stressing over the GC......NO MORE!!!!!!
 
hgc, sorry to hear your experience. Similar thing happend to my friend who works for same company as i do. His RD was Nov2001 and his case was filed at Vermont. He was scheduled for an interview on Oct 21st, 2004 and the officer said everything(job letter, pay stubs, tax returns) is in order except USCIS is waiting on name check clearance from FBI. His drawback is that he is Muslim and his orginally from Karachi Pakistan. He has worked in Kuwait.

Therefore, you can't do anything in these situations when USCIS decides to discriminate based upon religion. The officer told him that she has been checking online for FBI clearance everyday, and therefore she can't stamp the passport. Who knows how long FBI clearance would take.

Sorry, i was not of much help. But i can atleast share your pain.
Hope for a faster approval for you, as all the formalities are done.

My wife's FBI name check took only 20 days whereas mine took little more than 4 months .below is the e-mail i got from FBI. I-485 ND 10/02/2003

This is in reference to your facsimile received on September 21, 2004, concerning the immigration status of you and your wife,xxxx. The FBI completed a record check for xxx(my wife) on October 22, 2003, and for you on February 7, 2004. The results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Washington, DC.

Being from pakistan or being a muslim is not only the reason for your name check/back ground check not been cleared.
I am from India with a particularly Hindu sounding name.....but I too am waiting ( actually I have given up waiting).for my name check clearance after my interview. Actually to be honest I dont even know whther I am approved or not. But I have ceased to care now.
I am so fed up of this I dont even check my mail box the first thing when I get home.
My name prolly was a hit and they want to maybe check some more or it is just bureocraz(c)y or just the non efficient staff....
so.....and offlate I have seen so many people with thier name checks stuck up.
I havnt even written to FBI. If my name is not clear , writing an email wont expediate it. No would it ???
 
I totally agree with you!. This is just an eye wash by USCIS by saying short of staff. We have applied our I485 in Dec 02 and USCIS has not requested my name check with FBI till now and whereas they have requested my spouse and it was already cleared in March 03. With me , four of my friends have applied GC and all three of them have been approved and I am still hanging and now I have really got fed up with the discrimination and I am now least bothered about GC process and I am concentrating on normal life enjoying myself. Trust me. This stupid process is really stressful and it not only creates stress with self, it also creates real headaches in work and all other parts of life. So if you ignore the process, I am sure it will come running behind you.

make a long story short , i was interviewd @ washington distric office on 25th october 2004. interview itself went OK , but lady officer shocked me in the end that my name check is still pending . dont know why they call u for interview when thy had not done their (home work). wht if we miss anything in interview , will there any room for error ? and yes i am not giving up like u guys . i already send emils faxes and postal mails CC to washington office.

I have FP cleared the same day. Got email from Mr.Hardy for Namecheck clearance. Yet the senator responded that delayed due to the REST OF THE SECURITY CHECKS. Now what is this ? See my signature and assess.

This doesn't sound very exciting. Tufan, thanks for good words.

I will make an appointment towards mid of next month and see where they are. Meanwhile, I will start initiating request to FBI to find out if name check has been done.
