My NIW was approved in 2002 at NSC. I filed for I-485 in 8/2002 as soon as concurrent filing was allowed. I was a PhD candidate back then, but now I am about to graduate. The 485 thing really vexes me (though I am not the only one worrying about that, I see bunch of Nobel-bound researchers on this board worrying about the same thing ļ
The official 485 processing time at NSC is 9/2001, however, I have seen people with RD of May, 2002 got approval. I can graduate this next June or August.
If I were to teach in a University or do similar research in industry, this shouldn¡¦t be a problem since I already have I-140 approval and EAD. However, I plant to go to Wharton to pursue an MBA in September, 2004. If my 485 is still pending by that time, then I am in trouble.
I am seeking your advice here:
Shall I stay at my current University to do a post-doc or start work?
If I get a late RFE at Wharton, then what is going to happen?
