Different name in birth certificate - confused!

Folks,

Being born in the South of India, I have a birth certificate that says
"salini", while I have used Shalini in my school documents, throughout college
and that's the name in my passport, social security card, naturalization certificate.

Now since I am planning to apply for a GC for my parents, someone advised
me to make sure that my name in the birth certificat eis the same as in other official documents.

Any advise on what I might do?

(1) Should I submit my birth certificate as is, with a letter saying that
this name was spelt wrongly in my birth certificate dur to an administrative error.

(2) Should I get a birth certificate re-issued with an alias added?

(3) Do nothing at this point.

I read a similar thread in this forum from Feb '08, but they had not
addressed the above options.

Thanks.

You have to correct it with court afedevit in india. How did you got green Card? did you got with this BC? If you got with the same then I think you should not have problem. but still you have to make correction for your future use.

Hi Diamonds,

This is the BC that I've used always with no problem. That's why I was wondering about it. When you say court document, do you mean a letter from a magistrate saying that
Salini and Shalini is the same person?

Hi raevsky,
"Salini" is not an alias to South India.

Thanks.
