Different Address before Interview

I have my citizenship interview tomorrow and it just hit me that I have a different address on my drivers license from what is on the application. I really goofed up here. I truly did not think about it. I have two residences one of which I use periodically but is still on my license. I started this N400 process using the address I use most of the time. What a fool....

I did not think about it until now. Question, do interviewers usually ask for drivers license? If they do, do they focus on the accuracy of the name only?

The docs I am supposed to show up with are:

Passport, GC, Letter of interview and passport (not sure if DL is automatic even though it is not listed). Thanks all

hope2dnc,

I don't think you have anything to worry about. 2 most imp piece of documents are:
1) Passport
2) Green card
3) Your interview letter (ofcourse)

If your driv license was from somewhere out of state then I probably would worry about it but I am sure your driv license issue would not come up. Just present your GC incase the officer asks for some kind of identification or a govt issued photo id. You should be all set.

At the start of the interview, you will be sworn to tell the truth, then the IO asks for your state-issued id (drivers license) to confirm your address, and make sure you are under the jurisdiction of their DO.

Unfortunately, if the addresses mismatch, USCIS is liable to terminate the interview and transfer the case to whichever DO has jurisdiction over your official residence location. Changing addresses between DOs (and hence location of legal residency) incurs a 90 day mandatory waiting time.

Maybe you can find some useful information here: http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?dockey=724ce55f1a60168e48ce159d286150e2

Question....do you know what happens if you show up late for an interview? I will do an address change. My interview is 8:25 a.m. and DMV office opens at 7:30 a.m.....hoping for a 20 -25 minute process to get my address changed if I am the first person they get to....then fly to my interview...I may be late....do you however know if there are any ramifications if I come late (I will show up just late)

Does anyone know the standard process of how an interview goes...is it like this...

1. Drop your interview letter
2. Get called at appointed time
3. IO Swear you in
4. IO asks for required docs (possibly including State issued DL - not asked for, but should have)
5. IO goes over application
6. IO asks test questions and others stuff....does this generally cover it.

is there a chance that as long as a GC (Fed Govt issued id) is provided, that this will suffice?

At my interview I was explicitly asked for DL, GC & Passport.

I should have asked this before, but do both your addresses fall under the same DO service area? If so, I don't think you'll have such a big problem.

All,

Interview over!! Good and not so good. Another file on me. Decision could not be made

Now, this is timeline and events of the interview.

DO - Atlanta

I started by dealing with the address issue by going to the local DMV and had the address changed (hated to do that). DMV opened at 7:30 a.m (USC interview: 8:25 a.m) and they were done by 7:50. I raced to the USCIS building (stupidly risking a ticket) and made it on time. Suprisingly, there weren't a lot of people. A short line @ security

1. Security asked for DL and Interview letter (standard process it appears)
2. Directed to a specific floor to basically show my arrival by giving my interview letter.
3. Letter gets stamped (8:25 on the dot....not planned I promise)
4. Directed to another floor and letter stamped again, then told to sit and wait for IO.
5. IO calls me 15 minutes later. These folks up to this point were professional but not warm.
6. IO has nice office, and IO was maybe a degree warmer than everyone else.
7. Asks me 2 stand and swears me in.
8. Immediatly tells me that no matter what happens, the decision would not be made today because there is another file on me. DISASTER! I inquire and IO tells me that no info is there to give. Very, very troubling. Not sure what this means. Tells me not to worry (I guess IO realizes that I still have questions to answer).
9. Asks for DL (thank God I made address change) and GC and interview letter.
10. Goes over N400 application line by line (very important to know what you filled on your application. Easy to be non-chalant about it, but make sure you know every line. Any discrepancy and routine process changes to search and destroy. Anyway, mine had no issues.
11. Asks for passport. Hands DL back to me, takes GC and passport to make copies.
12. Comes back and asks me 10 questions (not multiple choice). It was not given to me. IO asks and I answered. I fumbled on one but close enough to give it to me. I was grateful but still concerned about this other file thingie!! Damn...excuse my French...!!
13. Tells me I have passed but that decision cannot be made.
14. I did not come with passport pictures (did not know I was supposed to) so IO tells me to get them and bring them back later but will go ahead and submit the file (rather thin file.....not sure if that's good or bad...maybe that's why there is another one....jokes!!)
15. There is a little chit chat about what i do and how IO got to be in this position.
16. IO walks me out and expresses pleasure in meeting me and I express the same. I previously asked if there was anything I could do to find out about this other file thingie, but IO tells me flatly NO!!
17. I leave....
18. IO calls me on the phone to tell me about location for passport photo.
19. I go and take picture and take back (had to join an excrutiatingly long line to get back into building.....and another long wait before IO comes out........finito!!

Analysis.....make sure paperwork is clean (cleaner than mine...adresses and all), have originals of everything, study the test questions (goes without saying), be dressed appropriately....nothing loud...be as conservative as possible.
Be pleasant and be of good humor (not necessarily jokes)....basically be pleasant even if they are not. Be truthful....much easier to remember.

I thank all who have been helpful and I hope my day helps.

BTW, Boatmod, the addresses did fall in the same DO service area, but I was just concerned that it would result in questions like why did you not change it? Did you notify USCIS? Those and similar questions.....thanks anyway, you are helping a lot of folks be calm....goes a long way.

hope2dnc,

Did you have two A numbers? One as a student-employment (EAD for F1 A#) and then another A# for GC. Or anyother case like that causing two files to be there for you?

CrossHairs,

I have only one A number. I did have a temp A number b/4 getting the permanent one, but I would think that there should be only one file. I did renew my GC about 5 years ago...not sure if that is the issue....I asked all these questions and the IO did not know. IO said that the file would be looked for and if not found, the current file would be made permanent. When that would be, I do not know......I tell you, after the stress fo the the last wk and 1/2, I refuse to worry anymore....all I can do now is wait.....unless someone has ideas of numbers to call. I am leaning towards leaving well enough alone and wait it out.....at least for a while.....thoughts??

....sorry not temp A number but a temp GC...can not remember if numbers were different....almost 20 yrs ago...
