Difference in GC's?

Now that you have become a Permanent Resident of the United States we would like to welcome and congratulate you on your accomplishment. Some of you came to the United States as immigrants through a relative or through an employer. Some of you came as refugees or were given asylum status.
And some of you came through other programs, like the Diversity Visa Lottery.

But now that you are Permanent Residents you all share the same status. You have certain rights and certain responsibilities as Permanent Residents.

As far as I know........we all GC holders share the same rights and privileges.

To my knowledge, asylee green cards have the abreviation as (eighter 5,6,or7) on it, while the regular green cards don't. In the end, we have the same rights!

All green cards are the same, no mater how they are obtained.

Getting a GC thru asylum has a good thing, which is that it is backdated 1 year that counts towards citizenship.

There is another thing that most people are not too crazy about, and it is a code that shows on the card, (AS6, AS7, or AS8), and basically it means that the Permanent Resident Status was reached through Political Asylum, and that might raise some questions if you happen to travel to your COP. Other than that, all permanent residents share the same status.

Just to clarify, all categories have a 'code' which is the adjudication status or how the individual derived the PR status. So, although employee-based GC holders don't have AS6, they do have another code on their GC.

You basically have the same rights, except you need to abide by the rules that govern the Asylum laws. Meaning that unless your countries conditions have changed significantly, you must maintain the 'credible fear of persecution' attitude that got you the GC in the first place.

Can anyone answer this? what is the difference between asylum GC card and other GC cards? Thanks.:)

There is not difference.Difference means Asylum GC looks yellow and others look Green or asylum GC looks bigger than others. This not the case. All cards look same.Of course each card has a code on it meaning the way it was obtained. But this not a deal and doesn't make any difference.
