Hello,

I did my H1 extension by myself and have all the paperwork signed by my employer. I am almost ready to send it. I would like the USCIS to send to ME the receipt number and approval notice because my employer's staff is not really well organized and I am afraid they'll loose it before they have finished opening the envelope. I need to know asap if my extension is approved.

Can I just ask the USCIS to send the approval notice to my address? Or the USCIS will only send it to my employer?

Thanks

Simple answer is no. This is employer petition and you cannot pay for it either. On the returned check, receipt number is printed...

Why don't you put your immediate manager's address. He can tell you when he gets the response.

Thanks for the answer. Don't worry I don't wanna pay for it :). The problem is that my immediate manager is difficult to get ahold of. I work at a VA where everything is messy and slow... I have sent the documents and requested the checks to the VA in March. The documents are signed but they have only two signed checks out of three and I am waiting for the third one. My current visa is expiring within a month. That's why I am really stressed out now because I can't count on the staff.

I went back to my first H1 paperwork and found out that a receipt number was in my name and another one in my lawyer's name. So I am confused. There must be a receipt sent to me and one sent to the employer?

I wonder something:

My wife is applying for her H4 at the same time. When her check is cashed, can I assume that my petition has been received and "properly filed"?

My wife's check is the only way for me to know that something is moving at the USCIS since the check will be taken from her bank account.

I am not concerned about my application not being approved. I am only concerned about my application being received and "properly filed" before the end of my current visa.

H1 petition is filed by US employer. H1 filing Receipt/approval will come to employer office address. H1 filing receipt and H1 approval both will have your name AND company name (petitioner) company is Petitioner and you are beneficiary.USCIS will not senD H1 filing reciept/approval notice to your address.

-------------------- If she is filing her H4 extension with your H1 extension and that is sent in the SAME envelope then USCIS will take out the fee checks same day and your employer check may be submitted to bank same day. Make both the petitions separate in the envelope and out side the envelope write in big bold letters: form I-129 and form I-539 for H1 and H4 extensions. your employer can also write a cover letter and cover letter should be at top of the papers in the envelope.

H1 extension or H4 extension can be filed 6 monthd advance of I-94 expiry date OR extension must reach USCIS Before I-94 gets expired.
