How to determine Priority Date ...
can we find out in the 140 petition or need to ask the Lawyer..

Do you have any idea ..please post..

Your official priority date is first time seen on your I-140 after approval.
From the earlier readings I heard it is your labor date.

Priority Date is the date Labor Certificate was accepted for processing

Hi Bhadradee,

Yes that is true.

The priority date comes into play only after your I-140 is approved. I-140 gets approved only as per the I-140 processing dates of the Service Center.

Your I-485 will not be ajudicated until your priority date becomes current except in the case of current and semi current filers.

Once the retrogression kicks in ( if it happens, there may be a 15 day notice ) even the filling of the I-485 is not allowed unitl one's priority date becomes current. That is why lot of people are advising every body to file the I-485 ASAP. Since Service centers are now accepting I-485 concurrently or semi-concurrently.

Please read the following thread about priority dates. It has answers for most of the questions.
