Detained while using AP for the first time

All,

I'm on I-485 and currently working on my EAD. I also have an Advance Parole. I went to Canada last week for a work related visit.

At immigration, the INS Officer asked me if I was traveling on parole for the first time. I said Yes. He then took me to a separate room where I had to wait for 1.5 hrs before he stamped it and gave it back to me.

I got an I-94 saying - "Paroled until xx Feb 2004"

Is it normal to be detained while traveling on Parole?

When my wife uses AP for the first time, will she also be detained?

It is called secondary Inspection and not detained.

Yes, it is normal procedure. They may ask you some question like SSN to cross check the person.

Thanks

Thanks Sayed.

Is it likely that my wife will also be subjected to this when she uses AP for the first time?

Also, since they have stamped my Passport already, will I have to go thru this again?

Thanks.

Its totaly normal . which was ur post of rentry to USA. normaly at LAX it takes around 20 mins or sometimes they do't even do thte inspection. Looks like he did't hv any computers to verify and may hv called around some where to do the verification. one and half hour is bit odd i guess. but as long u let u in its oki... did he ask u any other questions.
