details on online waiver status

Can somebody share exactly what should the online status show after the "sponsor views" item has been received and the waiver decision is made by DoS? Is it something like "212(e) Finding Letter" sent? And then, in a week or so the DoS decision should switch from Pending to whatever? Does written confirmation comes first or the last? Also, please mention the waiver type your information is for? Thanks.
 
In fact, the decision gets updated to "Favorable Recommendation". Has waited for these two sweet words to appear for almost seven months.

Does anyone know what exactly "sponsor view" request is? Is it about the funding? Or whether the sponsor does not object to my staying in US?

Any answer is appreciated.
 
I think this first goes to the Sponsor identified on your IAP-66, and if one no longer exist (happens often when programs cancelled, or a department reorganized), then the request goes to the school/organization where the exchange took place. If the first above happens, then you loose lots of time (3-4 months waiting for "sponsor views" to come in, which they never do). However, as with government funding, it is much more desirable to get to the second scenario, as usually school/organization gives a favorable view.

If the applicant received US government funding, the government sponsor is contacted for its views regarding the grant of a waiver. This stage of a waiver consideration is known as ‘Sponsor views’. If the government sponsor objects, a NOL from the home country will have limited effect, and the Department of State will generally make an unfavorable recommendation. A research scholar who is working on a project funded from a US government research grant awarded to an institution for a specific research objective is not considered to be subject to 2Y HRR on grounds of government funding. The scholar would be subject, however, if the government funding were awarded for an international exchange objective. “Sponsor View” stage takes from one week to several months. It took about two months in my case to get answer from the US Government Agency (my sponsor was NSF, National Science Foundation). However, NSF sent reply to DoS only after my email in which I ask NSF to speed up their response to DoS. After positive response from NSF, DoS issued a favorable recommendation in one day.

Thank you guys,

I my case I received the funding from my home country government through American Council for international education , and I received NOL from my goverment, but as stated in IAP-66 the sponsor was American Council for international education. I don't understand why DOS would send sponsor view request, if the funding was from my home country government and my government does not object? What if the Am. Council object, then the NOL have no effect? Does anyone know somebody who had the similar situation?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
 
DOS has to get views from all angles to decide on the case, regardless of funding circumstances. Even if your sponsor objects, the DOS could issue a favorable recommendation due to other angles having more weight. From what you mentioned above, you should be in the good shape.
