detailed question about job change in NIW case

I am currently a hardware engineer for a company that produces display devices. I have got ready my NIW case, showing that my work benefits both national security and economy. Because of a well-known retrogression, I need probably to wait for a long time before I can file my I-485 even if the NIW I-140 is finally approved. During the long wait, if I have to change employers, what is the pre-caution I need to take?

I will not be able to find a new job with a company making display devices because the industry is pretty small/narrow. I will probably end up with wireless or semiconductor companies but still as a hardware engineer, performing similar responsibilities, but the end product will not be display devices and the national interest I will serve in my new job will only be improving economy (instead of both economy and security as of now).

What is the impact of such change to my I-485? Will the change negatively affect my I-485 since I switch industries? At the stage of I-485, what kind of RFE will INS issue? Will they specifically ask you to describe the job you have when the I-485 is being adjudicated, and match that with your previous job when the I-140 was being approved?

Please share with me your experiences. Appreciate it very much.

Hi,
I think adjudication of national interest is at I-140 stage and they dont have to repeat it in I-485. At I-485 stage they check if you have employment. If you can prove that the new job requires the same skillset, then end product does not matter. Also I think they look for occupation which you put in I-140. If during I-485 you have the same occupation, then you would be through.
Above information is soley my understanding. I will be also going through the same situation though I have approved I-140.

Thanks much for your reply. Congrats on your I140 approval and good luck to your I485. Pls keep me posted.
