Hy guys,
I am so happy to find this forum and to see that other people like me are helping each other.
My ND is 2002, FP done Sept 2005, RFE, August 2005
My problem is that my whole family got their green cards and I am the only one still waiting. I just got a notification that my case I 485 application to adjust status was transfered from NCS to Los Angeles Asylum office. and I live in Miami  . Can anyone please, anyone tell me why and what could be the reason. Unfortunatly I don't have the money to get a lawyer right now, but I had my congressmen made an inquiry about my case a while back and I am still waiting on that as well. I would appriciate any thoughts and advice. Thank you

Case transfer to asylum office is not good sign; however, there are cases in which it is not that bad. We need to get some more information so that we can explain to you.

there are different reasons:

One of them is change in the condition of your country
An other one is Age out
A third one Divorce from the principal applicant

Which one is your situation;
In each your original grant of asylum is at stake and you should get ready.
Also the fact that your other family members were given their greencards and yours was delayed is worrisome; However, I think that your wife sponsered you and you divorced. In this case, you children and your wife would get, but for you you have to see asylum officer. that is my guest....Tell us how you got your asylum and we will try to help you out...

The information you get here you won't get any where else.....good luck

Also, if the asylum office is far away from where you live, don't worry.. Asylum officers sometimes travel to areas where they don't have office...

Thank you for responding. From what I gathered it had something to do with my A number. Today I also got a letter on the mail saying that the officer processing the case was waiting on the A number to arrive from LA office along with other 485 applications pending, however, because I takes too long to get this inf. they've sended my case to LA. I don't know if it makes any sense at all but that's what it said in the letter. I am so confused now...Have you ever heard anything like this happening and what does A# has to do with it anyway?

This is what basically was stated in the email.
"...we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent
Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in LOS ANGELES ASYLUM OFFICE for
processing. Our office in LOS ANGELES ASYLUM OFFICE will send you a written
decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice
informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office"

Do you have any better understanding of the emaning of it because I am too stressted to even know what is said here.

Where does it say anything about your A#?

Well it was a separate letter from my congressmen, explaining why the case is transfered.

Can you post it? It can help in understanding the reason for the case transfer.

about getting outside help :)

Hey dasy60,

I know that it is hard being an asylee, also not having enough money and feeling depressed for a variety reasons. Waiting and indefinition is hard to take too. I would recommend still that you try to get some professional advice via human right groups that might be able to find a lawyer that can do something for you without charge. Try church/temple groups (whatever your religion if you pursue that), groups that help refugees/asyless and other community groups (or just asking around for your friends).

Speaking to a lawyer makes you understand about the law even if may have good knowledge of the process... and may help you with any insecurity. The web may help you find some of these resources "International Rescue Committee" was one institution that help me. I am in California and resources in your are may be different.... so really look around...

Also, if your feelings about your situation are getting the best of you, consider talking to a counselor/psychologist.

By the way I was in a similar situation, and (this may sound corny) "reaching out" did help me so much.

I wish all the best!

Thank you to all that responded to me post.
I don't have constant access to internet so I couldn't respond to questions earlier.
The reason for my case to be transfered to California was that my A file was missing, and to speed up the process NSC have sended all my papers to asylum office??? (I don't understand that myself). Now, can you tell me what how important is that A file and what it has to do with my I485 application. Thank you

I am trying to get my congressman to help me with my case. So I hope they will be able to get more answers soon.
