Departure Date in I-94

I have about 5 I-94 cards apart from one I received at POE. Each time H1B exteneded & transfered, I have received I797 form with attached I-94 card. I have't travelled outside US sofar.

Now my question is when I leave US, which I-94 to be surrendered? The original one received at POE is expired. The most recent and current one has validity till 02-2006. Am I required to surrender all I-94 or just the current one?

Other doubt is that, the lower portion of H1B approval notice has two parts. One says "Detach this half for personal records" The other half says "tear off and attach to the orignal I-94" The second part does not have I-94 valid date or Departure date. I noticed this in my all H-1B approval notices. Now if I turn over these I-94 cards, how will USCIS know my departure date?

I am planning to go for a vacation outside US in Dec.

---ALL the I-94, take a pin or staple from Airline cunter staple the all I-94 and Recent at top and surrender( keep the copy of Each I-94 Front and Back for your future records in immigration file at home)
The original one received at POE is expired.
--No problem

----- that is correct and that Right lower part is your I-94( it does not have valid date or departure date but it has yout I-94 # and your case # that is on it may be srating with EAC, LIN or WAC)

------ the I-94 that you surrunder goes to USCIS comuter syastem and they know that you departed on date XYZ and filight # these days they know everything about you.

---- Give ALL I-94 stapled at Airline counter when you depart US

Concur with the above. That's what I have usually done.

Only thing to keep in mind, is that say you are checking in at the non-international flight airport, they will take the I-94 and staple it to the international boarding card. You make sure that all the I-94s are stapled on the card.

I never gave all I94 cards,
I always give the white card they give while I got at POE.
I came back to US with out any probs.

there are several cases like yours who entered without any problem.

you are supposed to return ALL your i94s prior exiting. in future there may be additional checks and unwanted issues at poe if you did not give all your i94s

Normally it should not create, but it is better to just give it away ...
