Delaying 485 Approval

Hello,

I filed my 485 and got notice for finger printing. I am not going to be in the country on the day the finger printing appointment is. Would grately apprecite your help in clarifying the following:

What are the implicaitons of postponing it. and how long can I postpone it.

Also, I would like to delay my 485 approval as long as possible (still trying to find a life partner :-). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My lawyer told me that I could add my spouse till the date my 485 is approved. Is that correct. I filed my 485 is August 03 (EB1 .. not sure if this matters at all). I am hoping I have one more year before my 485 gets approved.

go early

you can go before you fp date with the fp notice. don't go on monday's. Try to go on wed/thu and early in the morngin and explain your situation. they will let you, i did that earlier.
 
Thanks for your reply. just to confirm my understanding, are you saying that I show up on some other day and just tell them that I missed my appointment?

It looks like there is a formal way to get an re-appointment. Is that something I should not opt for?

Usually you can go within 13 weeks from the date of FP. I went after 10 weeks.

FP notice will have full detail read it carefully. It is different for different local offices.
 
Schedule FP b4 the date

My wife and I have the similar problem before. W would not in this country on the day of FP. We called the FP place (Sheriff office) and asked if I can do FP in advance. The answer was yes and we did FP before we left the country.
