Delay in Administrative Processing 221(g)

Hi all,
I attended the B1 interview at New Delhi on April 26th and was told that further administrative processing is required and that I would have to send in the passport and DD then. It has been 6 weeks now and I havent heard from the consulate.
As I need to travel immediately and queries to the consulate havent been forthcoming ( they give the same response that I will be contacted once the checks are done), I would be grateful if I get answers to the following queries.

1) How long does administrative processing take on an average?
2) Is there any way to contact offices in India or in the US to know the status and the time required and if so what are these numbers?
3)Is there any way to raise an exceptional case or reapply if there is an urgent need to travel when the application is under administrative processing?

Hi,
I am in the same boat but in your case it has taken too much time. According to information gathered on internet it takes 2 - 3 weeks. In my case also it is almost 40 days now. In between the consulate officer called me to provide some more setails but after that there is no call.
You can contact the New delhi cosulate for B1 Non immigrant visa on 24198310, 24198232, 24198084 between 2 - 4 on working days.
You can also contact DOS in US. Call (202) 663-1225 or fax your request to (202) 663-3899. I did it but no use,
I called Delhi consul so many times........but got the same answer...that visa is under processing.
Lets hope we get our visas soon.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. I am still waiting to hear from the consulate and it has been almost 3 months now. I guess in my case the processing was necessary due to a visit I had made to Bahrain, which is on the T26 list, back in 97. Will keep you posted if I happen to hear anything from the consulate.

Visa through finally

Hi all,
I had been to the Delhi consulate last Monday on being called back and was asked to get a police clearance certificate from the area where I currently reside at. Once I submitted that the consular officer had no issues with granting the visa.
It has taken just over 5 months in my case for the entire process to get completed.
