Defination of non-immigrant status when you file for I-485

Hello friends,
My labor and I 140 both got approved and waiting for I485 to apply. In I-485 they check whether applicant was not out of status during his non-immigrant stay in US. I am in the same company from the begining. My first H1 was expired in 11/30/2003. I had applied for extenstion of my H1 in 07/20/2003 that time it used to take 9 month to process H1. When my H1 approval notice came, it had a validity of 2/12/2004-06/01/2006. so there is a gap of 72 days between my two receipt. I was also paid from my company for those period. so would it be problem in I-485? what would be my status on those 72 days? Is anythng i can do to resolve this issue?

I have heard that if you have receipts for the applications for an extension filed sufficiently in advance they are cool with that. But I am not a lawyer.

You should be fine as long as you have not violated status for more then 180 days.
