defer admission after getting visa -- Plz help!!

My case is as follows:

I have got admissions in US universities for spring 2007 semesterfor which the registration deadlines are Jan 4'th 2007.

Assuming that I am approved F1 visa and unfortuantely if I do not get my visa processed before January 1st I will not be able to reach USA before the deadlines for schools.

>>In that case if I defer my admissions to Fall 2007 semester, should I get my visa again for Fall semester?

>>What will be the validity of the F1 visa I obtain and when I should I arrive in USA ?

>> In short, Can I defer my admission after getting visa and attend the scool for the following semester with the same visa.

Student visas are eased and issued quickly at consulate, if you are eligible you will get your visa before Jan 1. Even a week delay will not affect your study. But you must inform your international student couselor with proof of delay.
