Decreased salary on I-485 processing

Due to company downsizing, My freind had to move to other division and his salary has been downed under the amount on Labor Certification. I heard it might be affected to I-485 processing if INS aware it. So, He is considering to change my GC sponsoring company after 180 days of I-485 receipt and am contacting a company, which will pay over the amount of Labor Certification.
My questions are : 1)Does the downed wage affect I-485?
2)How can INS aware it ?
3)If he changes company after 180 days, no problem?
Please advice on any similiar case.

Downed wage...

1) INS may argue that employer is not capable of even the salary mentioned in LC and might deny 485. Theoritically it is possible, but with the current economic condition not likely.
2) INS might ask for the recent paystubs, although it has not done in any case where the applicant has been with the sponsoring employer.
3) If company is changed, he might get a RFE for employment from INS and he might have to respond with new employer details (or attend local INS interview). That is not a problem at all.
