I am new here as a member, but has been reading most of the threads. I have a couple of things to ask and gaugue your opinions.
I recently got stamped for my green card as of two weeks ago. Got the white card as well. Here are my questions:
1) I know that when I was still an asylee, one cannot travel to one's original country. But now that I am a permanent resident and my status has changed can I go? I know it's been discussed here before, and you will be allowed in extreme situations, but I think only when you're still under asylee status.
2) I was born in an african country and so was my father when that country was still a british colony. hence were were given british passports. But this passport clearly states BRITISH OVERSEAS CITIZEN, and we do not have right of abode in the UK. In other words this passport was good for travel only. Can I use this passport now to travel and return to the US with my green card eventhough that's not the citizenship of country that i applied my asylum under? When one gets the plastic green card and upon return to US, and whenit is scaned, will it show all relative info ot just to make sure that itis not a fake card? I am desperaee to travel and cannot wait for the travel document to arrive and I guessing here by February (I applied in August)
