Decision in 60 days

Recently got a letter from INS that they will make a decision on our case status within 60 days.

Has anybody got a letter of that short from INS? If yes, what do you think that would mean? Will they really do something? I am waiting for my GC from last 5 years.

No kidding...What a good news! I`m older than u : 5.5 years.
The letter came from VSC?
 
Got a letter from VSC. Still don't understand - what do they mean by making a decision. My FP is expired. Everything else is current.
 
Great News for you

I would hate to raise your hopes with things working out differently but I think you are almost there. I think your name check and other checks are all done, PD current and you are on the verge of approval. Officer who scans your file will send out the FP notice.

Did you get this letter when you initiated an enquiry or did VSC just send you a letter home.

I initiated an inquiry in July' 06 and in response to that inquiry VSC sent a letter in late August' 06.
 
I just got email I485 approved!

RFE letter said will make decision within 60 days after receiving response.


I140/485 filed 10/2003
I140 approved 12/2004
I485 transfered to NYC local 12/2004
I485 transfered back to VSC 11/2005
RFE 7/2/2006 (I94, employer letter, will make decision in 60 days)
FP 7/20/06
RFE received by VSC on 8/15/06
LUD 8/15, 8/25, 8/29
approved: 9/21/06

37 long days !!!

sms25, could you please tell how you made a request?
it was mail, fax, e-mail or phone inquiry?
 
phone query. i only talked to 1800 rep not even vsc rep.

but recently i learned on this forum, its probably better to talk to vsc rep. they can tell more accurate info. and somewhere in this forum, there is a trick to get to vsc rep's. good luck.

has there been any change in your case status automatic message when you call the 800 number? I called in July and the phone system said that there is "no record" found with my case number. Then two weeks later in Aug it said that my FP review was completed and that my case is in VSC. My FP was done and sent back to VSC 1.5 yrs ago, it's strange that they only update it now...

NO change in message but LUD updated on 08/29.

And yes, it's weird that your FP status changed is Aug - hey, maybe they want you to save a trip to another FP - Aug' 06 was 15th month for you wasn't it?

My FP is also expired, it was last done in 02/05 but I haven't heard anything on it however my congressman mentioned in response to my query that my case is waiting on my FP scheduling.

I'll pray for you, and for everyone on this board to get it soon.
Whenever I feel confused about the long waiting, I come to this board. I feel we work like a team and support each other.
That's why I post it here about the processing days . I know someone may search it, I was searching and counting the days.
Once again thanks to you all and hang in there your time will come.

Wish it was right... They told me 60 days for me too... Well it s not ! 81 days and no answer. I started an inquiry when the 60 days were up. No LUD, no nothing since the mass LUD in sept 13th.
Oh did i mention my work visa expire november 15 ?
 
Did they tell you why your case is taking more than 60 days, which they initailly predicted to be 60 days?

They also said 60 days to me as well and it's already more than 40 days and I am waiting.......

Hi Sms25,

Did you call VSC to ask if your case was signed to an officer?
 
I called 1800 number and requested status and then VSC replied in a postal mail a month later stating ......... decision will be made in 60 days....
