Decision cannot be made

Had my interview at the Newark office yesterday. Was given the "decision cannot be made" paper. Very disappointed, as it puts my life on hold. Had an offer in Baltimore that i wanted to take, but cannot since do not want to move and complicate my case even more. The IO was very nice, however, i did not tell him anything additional than what he asked for. Now am wondering, whether i should have told him the reason of my temporary move to India - as my son was very young and my ex-husband was not ready to support me. Should i get an infopass and do that or is it just a routine check where he would verify the dates on the passport with my application (since i have 1000 days of physical presence). Please advise. I definitely do not want to get a denial letter, because i am told that it is very hard to fight that. Or is it that if they required additional information, they would ask for it.

Your back and forth trips every 6 months since 2008 likely are the cause for the delay. At this point, all you can do is wait and inquire periodically inquire about your case.

In your previous post you mentioned you returned to US every 6 months to visit your husband. Is this now your ex-husband?

We are still married, but separated for last 4 years. He lives in CA. When can i inquire - 15-20 days after the interview? Should i do an infopass or call the 1-800 number?

You can inquire anytime after interview, but give it at least 30-45 days after interview before you do so to.

Did you maintain a US physical abode during your trips to India? If you've been separated for last 4 years, you can't claim his address as your own nor can you consider him as immediate family in the US for proof of continuous residence.
