Guys,
Lets start a forum on Dec I-140 Approval to share our experience.
Lots of my friends suggested the CP is much faster and it takes 3-4 months to get the green card.
My I-140 was approved for CP on Dec 10th. NVC has recieved the case on Dec 14th but they have not entered the case in their system. They said its taking 2 weeks to enter it in the system and minimum 6 to 10 weeks send Packet 3. Looks like minimum 8/9 weeks to recieve p3 after approval.
I was also told that I will have to submit P3 to the NVC instead to consulate. Once NVC recieves the P3 back they will review the case and forward the case to consulate. In the review process with other things they will review all the documents. I am not sure how much time it will take to review the case and forward the case to the consulate. once counsulate recieves the case they will send an appointment date.

If you have any information please though some light on:
1. How much time NVC might take to review the P3 and forward the case to the consulate.
2. How much time cousulate will take to give you interview date.

Based on these two answers we can estimate how much time it will take to get the GC. It CP will take more that 180days then it makes lot of sense to go for 485
Please comments.
thanks

NVC Processing

Hi,

I140 approved on DEc 18th. opted for CP!

Should we wait to get the packet 3 from NVC? Instead, can we download it from the internet and send it to NVC once our case is entered at NVC. This may save 3 weeks time. Please let me know if this is possible.

Seems like a good options. Lets call NVC and find out. Please keep this thread posted on this. Also what is your estimate. How much time it will take to process the GC using CP

Hi Bhagat,
Have you done any estimation how much time it will take to complete CP based on the changes after Jan 2nd and current trends.

Hi Bunty_420...it should take may-june per my calculation

do you have any idea on my questions??

Since, the Dec approved applications would be the first batch that would go thro the new process, there might not be any back logs. Since NVC has to go thro paperwork before it sends it to the consulate, it may take another month or so. This is just my opinion.

Well, in TSC it\'s taking almost 2 years to get GC after filing 485/AOS. CP might still be a better option UNLESS the new process/unforeseen changes really screw things up. The only adv. is you can get EAD and are "safe" after 6 months under 485/AOS.

May not be backlog. But NVC is have more workload these days. they are taking so much time in assigning nvc # and creating packet 3. It used to be 2 week to get packet 3 but this is my third week. when i called nvc they told me its taking 6-10 weeks

spoke to NVC

my case was received on Dec 12th. case not created yet. Operator said they are waiting for the new process to be in place. Cases will be created in early Jan it seems.

Regression of Priority Dates

I found this post on another thread (Jan 2002 Chennai CPers forum):

Ashish Kapoor "IMPORTANT: DELHI CP INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE" 12/27/01 2:10pm

Does anyone have any news on the possible regression of priority dates?

I-140 CP

my 140 approved on 7th dec and case has been entered into NVC database but I have to follow the new CP procedure according to the operator

CP people...

Hallo All,
I was going through this thread. I am looking at lots of people who are trying to figure out the process...what to do next...whether to wait for NVC to send packet 3 etc.

I have attached a MS Word document "CP Dos and Donts" that kinda explains the strategies that you should to speed up your process. These are all based on the discussions from this same portal, the views of the people who went through CP before.

I hope this is useful to you all. Thanks.

Prince

ps: please don\'t treat this as the definitive source because this compilation is purely based on the views expressed by participants in this portal website.

have to fax my i140 approval to NVC

as i posted earlier asking views what to do as my i140 approval was not received by NVC i called up again today and they asked me to fax the approval notice to them... lets see what happens...

Dec 140 approval- CSC 485 might be a better option - just my opinion

I have I140 approved for CP Delhi ,Dec 7th. NVC case not yet created. After talks with operator, lawyer and from discussion boards, it seems it is takign 6-10 weeks for case creation.
That would have been ok as well, but sendign P3 back to NVC adds uncertainity and delay (2 weeks to get P3 after case creation, 1 week to fill it, at least 4 weeks for NVC verification I assume) and then 2 mnths of interview waiting period. Bunty, you are right, dec I140 approvals are looking at May-June interviews approximately at the earliest. (just my opinion)

In that case, given relatively fast CSC 485 approval rate (6-12 months) and AC2001 180 day rule and convenience of EAD, I think 485 might be good option. At leats, i decided for it during the christmas break :)

all the best to all..
