Death in the family

Hi everyone.
Well, I've been living in the US for about 4 years (I'm from scandinavia), all my immigration papers are not filed yet but we filed the petition for alien relative last year and just got a letter that it had been approved. Well, this week my mother passed away and the funeral will be held in Aug. Is there any way I could leave the country temporarily to attend her funeral without having to go through some kind of process?

Well, I don't know what my current status is. I havn't filed I-485 just yet. They only one that has been filed is the Relative one. I've heard that if you leave the country while everything is in process you can't re-enter.
 
I don't know what an H1 is. I have overstayed though, I came in on a visa waiver. But the petition for relative has been filed and approved.
