Dear all, Is I-134 (Affidavit of Support) needed for spouse\'s I-485?

If needed, do I have to swear before an authorized officer (to complete the last part of I-134) before submit my spouse\'s I-485?

Yes and yes

While the I-485 form doesn\'t mention that you need it to file,
I was told by my lawyer that if you are married and your spouse
doesn\'t have a job then you need it.
And yes, you have to swear before an authorized officer...

I didn\'t file the Affidavit of Support because I didn\'t know that one has to file it at that time (can\'t depend on my lawyer because he is the BEST in minimizing paperwork). Personally, I don\'t think it\'s necessary but why take that chance. It\'s better to have everything in your I485 package (ie, W2, tax returns etc.)
