In a few months I'll be heading to a POE to apply for a TN as a Computer Systems Analyst. I think my case is strong in itself, but the one thing that has been bothering me is that about a year ago, I applied for a TN for another position at another company and was denied. I then had second thoughts about the position and never reapplied. Although strictly speaking there is no connection with my current application, at that time I had no idea what I was doing and made pretty much every mistake in the book, and I'm afraid it will come back to haunt me.
Last year I attempted to apply as an Engineer (not very well suited to my computer science degree), I didn't have an official academic transcript with me, and worst of all used the dirty word "programming" to describe what I'd be doing. So, in particular, I worry that:
A) Perhaps the word "programming" is now written on my computer file, and they will suspect that I'm a programmer attempting to pass myself off as a CSA.
B) Perhaps the name of the previous company is not written on my computer file, and so even though there is an over one-year delay between the applications, they might suspect that I'm applying twice for the same position but changing around the categories.
Are these concerns well-founded or am I just being paranoid? If they are, what should I do to mitigate them?
My salary is high (100k-ish), would that help with allegations of being a programmer? And I am considering bringing a copy of my previous employer TN letter to prove that the company is different, but this might only attract further scrutiny considering that it says "engineer" all over it.
