Hi All,
After all these years of praying and waiting, today my wife and I completed the process of GC by getting our passports stamped. Should be getting the "plastic card" within 4 months.

*Anyways, we took appt at 7:00 am for my wife and 7:30 am for myself.
*Reached there at 6:15 am to beat the traffic in Dallas
*Security guys told us to come and stand in the line at 6:45 am(15 mts before the scheduled time). So we did accordingly
*Lady inside the counter (outside the building) asked us for the appt letter/485 approval letter and picture id. Checked if we brought our 2 photos and issued a token no (It was 6:50 am at that time - our appt was at 7:00 am) we got 2 separate tokens
*Passed through the security check point (6:57 am) and even before we took our items that came through the x-ray machine, our token numbers were called
*Went to the booth at 6:59 am and everything was done at 7:00 am sharp. They were very courteous and friendly. Told us should be getting the card within 4 months.

This was our experience. Good luck to the rest.

Congratulations!

Congratulations! It sounds like you had a good experience! Did you go for an interiew before your PP stamping?

No...

Thank you Ellada.
We didn't go for any interview before stamping. Got 485 approval and were asked to go for stamping.

Hi, some questions

Hi, DallasGang:

My wife and I made PP appointment next Tuesday both at the same time. I have some questions for you:

1. Did you both go to the same "booth"?
2. Did they check the expiration of your passports? In other words, they told you would get GC within 4 months, what is the time stamped on the passport?

Thanks,

Hanz

You will rcv the card in 15 days.

Though the immigration officers mentions 4 months as the time taken for the card to be delivered, for me it took only 2 weeks. And I believe that is the current processing time for delivering the card.

Question

konark,
I noticed in your signature that you did your FP earlier than scheduled: did you walk in or reschedule? My scheduled appointment is not till June 29th. What do you recommend?

For Hanz

We had 2 separate tokens but since it was an early appt, and while we were passing through the security check, both our tokens were called in 2 separate booths. So to answer ur 1st question, we went to 2 separate booths.

Suggestion: Keep both yours and your wifes documents in 2 separate folders.

We had renewed our passports in Feb of this year as it was expiring anyways end of this year. So we had validity for another 10 years so no questions about expiration came up.
Good luck.

Hi, DallasGang, thanks for your info. One more question about passport renewal. I bet you be from China and I am. It is said that China is putting new version passport into effect. I hold a passport issued before Oct. 2000 with coffee-color cover, which is supposed to be old version. So my question is, is your passport of new version or old? It seems you simply extended it. Thanks.

We were turned back twice as the ASC was crowded and had too many cases to handle. But the third time, there were hardly 10 people hence we were allowed in. You can try for wednesday afternoon or friday/sat early morning.
