In DV-2012, around 15,000 selectees belongs to Asia
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_5561.html

But why Visa Bulletin For May 2012, Asia cut off number is 40,000?
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5692.html

How to find out my cut off number?

One more example, DV-2011:

Selected Entrants: Asia 14,999, Oceania 1,600
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_5073.html

Visa Bulletin For June 2011: Asia 28,600, Oceania 1,300
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5452.html

Visa issued: Asia 8,895, Oceania 505
http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/FY11AnnualReport-Table III.pdf

I really few very confuse, can someone explain it to me? Thank you!

The number of Asian DV-2013 winners is almost equal to the DV-2012 Asian winners. But the cut-off number for DV-2013 for Asia is 1900 in October this year, while it was 8000 in October last year. Why are they interviewing fewer Asian winners this year, isn't it strange?
Looking forward to someone answering these questions.
Thanks!

I don't think they're necessarily going to end up interviewing fewer Asians this year, the cut-off number for October just happen to be unusually low. All selecteees (who bother to process their selection) will end up getting interviewed eventually.

Thank you for your reply, however I still have questions:

For DV-2006, there is around 9,500 selectees, October 2005 cut off number is 1,700
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_2631.html

But until August 2006, only cut off number only 7,700, and September 2006 is current
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_2978.html

In this case, does it mean that all remain selectees interviewed on September 2006 only?

For DV-2007, there is around 14,000 selectees, October 2006 cut off number is 1,550
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_3032.html

But until July 2007, only cut off number only 7,750, and August 2006 is current
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_3258.html

In this case, does it mean that all remain selectees interviewed on July 2007 and August 2007 only?

I just called KCC, and discussed the matter with them. They say that there are two probabilites in November, the cut-off could jump to upto 10000, or could just a mere 500.
God knows what will happen, lets wait till September 15th.

Best of luck!

When can I expect to hear my Interview date?

CN : 2013AS00005***
01/05/12 = 1st NL
29/05/12 = Application sent to KCC
30/06/12 = KCC Confirmation
2nd NL =???

Your assumption is that all selectees decided to pursue their cases upto visa issuance which may not be the case.Do you think it would be impossible to interview 1,800 selectees(9500-7700) during Sept assuming all of them pursued their cases?I don't think so,DV2013 Oct cut-off is 1500, to mean they will handle this number during Oct;thus 1,800 back then (Sept 2006) wouldn't be so much.

In this case, does it mean that all remain selectees interviewed on July 2007 and August 2007 only?

The fact that there are 14,000 selectees does automatically guarantee everyone a visa!!!The fact that numbers are moving slowly only to be current in the last 2 months is indeed odd I must agree. When a region is current,it means demand for visas is less then the numbers of visas which may mean people did not pursue their cases or many failed the interview stage such that those visa numbers were returned to the VO for re-issuance to higher CNs.

That my take.

Yes we never know. Number can jump up to 10000 or more for Asia and Europe but you're right it can also move by just a few hundred. Maybe a lot of people from Asia returned the forms to KCC, more than the years before, and they don't need yet to select too many people.

Can you do us favor, phone to KCC, ask them how many selectees returned form? Thank you!

:) I doubt that's an information KCC will release to a caller, plus people are still free to submit their forms anytime before the fiscal year in reference ends
