Did you see this new feature on USCIS web site:
https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp;jsessionid=ccnwkt16X8rb

They have email notification when your application status changes. Also, they have Last Updated
(mm/dd/yyyy) date and in my case is: 08/09/2002 (HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS DATE IS FOR???)

Also, you can track multiple cases at the same page. Check it up ..

I just check my son's case status .Same update 8/9/2002.I don't know what is that.

Could be the date when they put the information into the system.

I just created a user profile, the last date update is august 03, I guess that is when they updated my address change, although I did FP back in Nov.
this is a better system , we don't have to go check the status update, they will send you an email if anything new in your case.

probably last time they updated our case. Not important date anyway. We will see if they will email us when something changes. If anyone receives update email, please let us know.

Just wanted to elt you know that the system does send an email out when there is an update.

My friend (lucky guy) got an email today mentioning that his case was approved.

The RFE basically asked for updated biographic info and to complete a new medical examination.

What a coincidence, i signed up for the portfolio yesterday and today i received an email about my EAD being approved. I wished it was my I-485.
I would like to take a chance and welcome new members, lately i noticed a lot of posting from new members, we appreciat any inputs that you bring to this beloved Forum.

I suggest that as you as you receive your EAD, you go and obtain a normal social security card.
