Hello,

I probably made a huge mistake but i was eager to start the process of becoming a US citizen, I applied under the 5 year rule (90 days before reaching 5 years), problem is i didnt realize that there was 3 month jurisdiction requirement. I just moved to NY for work (5/14 was my start date), but have property, DL, bills, etc in MD (where I have lived for more than 7 years). When i filled out the application online, i wrote the NY address since thats is where im currently staying, its a 7 hour drive so i cant commute everyday. The receipt notice has the NY address and i would like to do the biometrics and oath here in NY as that is more convenient for me. To avoid any problems, is it better to just withdraw application (do i need to state a reason) ? and after three months of being physically in NY, apply again? will this look badly on my new application? I dont want to delay becoming a US citizen any longer.

Withdraw the application and re-apply after a 3 month residency in New York. You can withdraw for any reason without the action having a negative impact on the new application you will be filing later on.
