Currently in US preparing for asylum

Dear Friends I am in US and hired lawyer who prepares my application I have few questions to you and may be experienced guys are here.

1. I read that success story of granting asylum rises with lawyer representation, for example without lawyer about 15% are approved and others denied and with lawyer representation the approved applications are over 50% of total. Is this true, any backed information?

2. After I left my country my name was mentioned in newspapers that I may be persecuted because working on political project which now is not in the interest of current government. Will it be really helpful? what's your experience?

3. Is there any mean of social help or accommodation provided for asylum seeker? I don't have any so spending bunch of money to make a living here. So if you know any organizations that help applicants please provide contact details

4. My country language is not English, so I must translate all documents and notarize in US embassy in my country. Is it required?

5. I have video where news reporters talk about me and assault on me is broadcasted. But this is not in English (in English there are only written information on English websites) so must I make subtitles for the video? or who must confirm for USCIS officer that subtitles corresponds to original?

thanks for help

dear, to me your case seems strong but just make sure that you explain it well during interview.here are answers of your questions (this is what i believe, but i am not a lawyer)

1. yes having a lawyer increases chance of your approval ( but you dont get approve because you have lawyer but because he/she can help you to elaborate your case and tell you what are basic things that officers wants to know)

2.it would be really helpful, get copy of paper and have certified translation from any translation company.

3. i have no idea.

4. nothing need to be notrized from back home, documents can be translated in usa from any translation company, thats what i did and they notarize it and send me the translation copy. it was accepted. you can scan/email the documents to translation compnay online and they will mail you translation, you can also request them to certified it and notraized it. however, if it is possible to get some notrized copies from embassy back home then get it, but if not possible dont worry either.

5. i would say talk to your lawyer and they can help how you can use video, i would say record it on cd and have translation of it on paper from traslator, have the copy certified and notrized by translator. everything need to be traslated into english if you want that to count.

good luck
