Current Status: Fingerprint Processing Complete-Non-Ident

I guess that this means that there was no match with any person on the FBI/IBIS database

It seems to mean that the fingerprint processing was completed with no identification. This is good man, it means that the background check was received.

hope you are right

caviar
I sincerely hope that U R right :) I'm just curious how do you know that no identification means that background check is completed? Have you talked with IIO about that? 10x in advance!

Well, it is just a supposition. I guess that they need some background check to know if the fingerprint doesn't match any "wanted" fbi list. I will know soon since my lawyer faxed an inquiry yesterday. In mid August IIO said that background check was received, in mid September another one said that bg check was not received, who knows? In the meantime I am still waiting WAC01280xxxx....

an interesting thing to know would be if anyone' status reads "fingerprings received ident" or anything else after "fp recd". If everyone gets "non-ident" I think it is something we dont need to worry about.

good luck everyone...

there are 4 types of responses that can be sent from the FBI
IDENT- the applicant was identified from FBI data base
NON- IDENT - applicant was not identified from fbi data base
REJECT - the fingerprints were unreadable by the FBI
PENDING - FBI is conducting more thorough on the fingerprints

so?

so which one is the good one - NON-IDENT? Does that mean INS has no more interactions with FBI on any kinds of checks? 10x.

lighthouse..

you seem to know a lot about this stuff. can you point to the source of this information, thanks

good luck...

In the following URL http://www.murthy.com/arc_uds/UDquality.html, there is a discussion about these keywords, though the article delves about Naturalization, I think the reference to these terms like NON-IDENT etc. can be applicable to GC related FP process also.

"Effective immediately, no cases are to be scheduled for interview or oath ceremony by the INS until a definitive response has been received from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (either through the receipt of a negative "NON-IDENT" response or a positive "IDENT;" in the case of an "IDENT" response the charge(s) must be resolved and approved by a supervisor before the case can be scheduled.
"

panther, your link doesnt work, please edit it if necessary.

desi, this looks like a procedure manual that is some sort of required course work for FBI folks.

basically the gist is that if you are not in Jail a few months after FP, it must be alright:confused:

if this non-ident stuff is true, the website gives more info than the AVM; it tells the result of FP also.

good luck...

Naturalization Quality Procedures

Doris Meissner, Commissioner for the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) issued a Memorandum on November 29, 1996, that effective immediately no further interviews or oath ceremonies will be scheduled by the INS until her memorandum has been read, training has been conducted in the procedures, either locally or from INS Headquarters, and all procedures are in place and working. The highlights of the Memorandum are summarized below:

In addition to requiring work sheets to be completed by both local offices and the Service Centers, the importance of the FBI fingerprint checks was stressed.

Effective immediately, no cases are to be scheduled for interview or oath ceremony by the INS until a definitive response has been received from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (either through the receipt of a negative "NON-IDENT" response or a positive "IDENT;" in the case of an "IDENT" response the charge(s) must be resolved and approved by a supervisor before the case can be scheduled.

The measures discussed in the memo will prevent the naturalization of those for whom FBI checks have not been completed.
