Curious About Letter

Hi all. I just got a letter from immigration addressed only to my husband. It is for an appointment next Friday and the reason stated is Form I-485 and Form I-130. The letter asks to bring the same things we brought to the initial interview last June. My question is, is this a "stokes" interview since it is only addressed to him? My case has been pending over a year. One more thing my husband is a citizen while I am the petitioner for the I-485 so, why would they only ask for him. Any ideas???? Thanks. Also how do you know if its a stokes interview? There is no mention of it even being an interview in the letter.

Perhaps they have a few marriage related questions that only he needs to answer. By any chance, was he previously married to an non-citizen that he sponsored for any immigration benefit?

Nope I'm his first (and only) marriage. I guess I'm just worried cause I've never heard of this happening before. Don't they normally inform you if its a stokes interview?

As long as the marriage is bonafide, you have nothing to worry about :)

The letter has an officer's name on (not the officer who interviewed us), states the reason for the appointment is Form I-485, Form I-130. It asks for my husband to bring his driver's license, his tax returns for the past three years, and any other documentation he wants the service to condier regarding our relationship.

Could you specify what the words are on the letter?

Hi, It may not be stokes because my letter is addresed to me ( the beneficiary) even though my spouse has to come also, It's for form I-130 and it says to ask for any District Adjudication Officer, no one specific. it also says NON-IMMIGRANT UNIT/ STOKES under the D O address.
I'm not sure if all the Stokes letter comes in the same format. Does your letter have any extra info underneath your office location address?

It doesn't have any extra information under the office location address. And as the reason for the appointment, it just says Form I-130, Form I-1485. There is also a specific officer to ask for. I hope it's not a stokes, but my husband and I are preparing for one anyway. Pain in the behind, but what can we do. We are at their mercy until everything is done. Good luck with yours.

Well we had the interview today. The IO separated me and my husband. She took him first, and after 10 minutes called me in. I was sworn in, and she asked me the same questions, he was asked. According to my lawyer we had a couple of discrepancies, but she doesn't think it was anything major. The IO said she is going to send an RFE to the lawyer for my husband previous tax returns. So we basically left with no decision. I'm crushed, cause this is exactly how the first interview ended and we didn't hear from them for over 7 months. I'm tired of dealing with this agency, and worried they will deny me because of the discrepancies. Our marriage is real, and it just sucks that we have to go through this.

Sorry. I feel so bad for you. They're torturing you for stupid reasons.
Hopefully you'll hear from them soon after they get your RFE's back.

Good Luck.
