Hello all,

My case was transferred to local office in San Diego. Does anyone have idea how long to get an interview date.

I also might be offered a job out of state and trying to figure out the best course of action. Stay put here for the interview or give a friends address and then come back for interview? I am sure transferring it again to another state is going to put a damper on the whole thing.

please advise.

I went to the local office to renew my expired EAD (its been 90 days since I filed for renewal) I got an interim EAD card valid until next year (06/2005). In the meantime as I was waiting I asked the representative to take a look at my file and see why I have not received an interview date yet. The representative informed the duty officer. Once I got the iEAD card the duty officer came out to speak with me and told me that everything is good in my file and that I should get an interview notice in 45 days. She also updated my address since they had the old one.

Today I got the call from my lawyer that they have received the interview date for me. Its for Nov 8. So basically its about 3.5 months from the date they transferred my file to the interview date.

keeping fingers crossed and hope everything goes well.. now I have to collect a mountatin of documents to take with me for the interview.

Hi

What kind of documents do they ask for the interview? Can you post the list of the requested documents?

Thanks!

They sent a document which listed everything you can think of. It was a document that covered employment and family based applications. I am only listing what I think will be needed for an employment application (they listed everything together)

- all passports, including expired passports, form i-94, photo identification.
- birth certificate
- marriage certificate
- proof of termination of all prior marriages.
- certified court documents, including arrest reports, complaint and final disposition for any and all arrests including sealed and expunged.
- Federal Income tax returns and w-2 for the last 3 years.
- paycheck stubs, at least last three issued.
- original letter of employment for sponsor.

one interesting thing to note is that the interview letter says "This interview may be video taped"

Congrats, Enkur!

Finally, you got it! I'm still waiting for mine. I made an infopass appointment for this Thursday in the Chula Vista office. Hope I can get some information for my case. By the way, where did you go to get your iEAD because I'm wondering whether the officers in the Chula Vista office have access to my case?

I went to the chula vista office to get the iead. They actually have the files there... as I mentioned the duty officer looked at my file and told me that everything is good and I should get my interview date. She had the file in her hand and made the correction to my address in it.

Just back from Chula Vista office. Surperisely, learned that they received my case on Sept. 30. I guess that's why it takes so long to get the interview notice. I also was told the interview will take place in Chula Vista office instead of Front Street office. Hoping to get the interview notice very soon!

Today we got the interview notice for 11/30. Enkur, maybe you can share your interview experience with us after your interview on 11/08. Thanks!

Approved 11/08/04 after interview

Hello all,

After a long 3.5 years I finally got approved on Monday after interview.

Went into Chula Vista office (San Diego) with the appointment letter at 8:15am. Officer called us in literally 1 minute later. We didnt even had a chance to go sit in our chairs. Went to his office .. he sweared us in. He went over some of the questions on the application, like verified address, date of birth, and other biographical information. He then asked the questions on the application lke any criminal record etc etc. Asked what documents we have brought. I had my employer letter which was not the sponsoring one... he didnt say anything just took it. Asked for check stubs which i gave him. asked for copy of my marriage certificate, my wife was with me at the time. He also asked to see original of my birth certificate. He didnt even ask for my iEAD which I had lost a week ago. He then asked for my passport then verified some information in it then said I am going to stamp my passport and it will be valid for 1 year and I will get the green card in mail in 1-2 months. That was it and just made a joke about I can travel anywhere but my home country :)
we were out in less than 3 minutes.

Finally the shadow has been lifted.
Thank you all for your advice and experiences.

I went to interview yesterday. However, I didn't get the stamp on my passport because CIA check is pending, which is called "IP hold".

The officer was nice and the whole process was smooth and quick. The officer asked for my evl because I moved after I-140 approval, which is also the reason that triggered interview. She also asked several Yes/no questions from the I-485 application form. But when she looked at the security check, my FBI check was cleared while CIA check is still pending. So she told me my case will be transfer to the clerk who will check the letter from CIA every other day. As soon as they receive the report from CIA they inform me to get passport stamped. So I guess my case is pretty much cleared except the background check. Now I need to find more info about CIA check. I will search previous posts in this forum and it will be highly appreciated if anyone can share his/her similar experience. And thank everyone in this forum for not only providing very valuable info also psycological supports.

Experience at CV office

Went to CV office in San Diego with my wife on Dec 2. Our case is pretty complexe and I will post related to it data in a few days. I promise it'll be informative. Check back.

Here is just a skinny on my visit to CV office, which is possibly relevant to any BCIS distict branch ti that matter. I am going to boil it down to a simple take home lessons, if you need details I 'll be happy to reply back.

1. If you want to know anything (anything at all!!!) about your case request a talk with an Immigration officer. Those guys and gals who you are chatting with
at the windows are the Information Officers. They all wear IO badges but there is a tiny fine print on them saying "information". What is scary, they have no access to any significant info you are usually trying to inquire about. In my case, which is the employment based transfer from the CSC, the InfoOfficer suggested to change the address to one of my spouse (we live in different towns). That, he said, “It will get your case moving...it has not been touched for 4 months exactly because of that”. I asked "are u saying I have to move?" He replied "well, that's a good idea, if you want your case processed, yes." "So, fill out change of address form and IF U DID NOT HEAR FROM US IN 60 DAYS, CALL NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE 1-800 NUMBER". I could not believe my ears. All I said - Could I please talk to the ImmigrationOfficer on the back. He said "Why?" I said "I have important letters with me" He took the letters and sent us on the back.
Then I asked "Check my case status please, may be it is on the scheduling for an interview" He answered " I have no access to this data, all I can see is that your case is in this center"<
I honestly got scared.

2. Immigration Officers are much more resourceful, comparing with IIO, who are just wasting your time and the taxpayer’s money.
In my case, I have learned that day another news I could not believe. The ImmOfficer told me " Your case was on a hold because with do not have experienced officers to conduct employment based interviews. So we did not know what to do with your file and just had it marinate for a while." (this latter was not pronounced - it's just my mind-reading)

3. Took me 3 visits to the center before I could get to the bottom of why my case is being delayed. ADVICE: If anything goes hairy/odd with your processing (delayed, nobody knows what's up) get infopass and ask yourself. Make any excuse to talk to the real ImmOff, get her name, and if lucky - direct phone number. Despite of all changes INS is still a bedlam, and a poorly organized one. Be careful.
