Finally, it is my turn to celebrate.
Mine and my wife's I-485 got approved on 02/06/04 after 31 months.

WAC 01-268-*****
EB2 category
ND 08/27/2001
RD 07/09/2001
3 fingerprints on 10/01, 10/02 and 01/04.
First fingerprints were rejected as unclassified (not clear)
got 3 EADs and Advance paroles.
2 RFEs at the interval of 1 year on 11/2002 and 09/2003.
Used AC21 to change Employer on 01/2002 after 6 months of filing and my lawer informed INS.

Tip of the day - Do not inform INS about job change unless they send RFE.
Honesty is not always the best policy.

interview at San Diego approved
finally got my passport stamped.

arrive at Chula Vista 7:20am, handed in interview notice and fingerprinted. called in @ 8:10am. the officer is ok. asked general questions. i am NIW case, kind of worried because I changed job and current work is not exactly the same as the work in my original application (area of study - biology - is not changed, but the subject of study changed to a different organism: from plant to human). surprisingly, the officer asked for my current employment letter which was written by my manager and tied to ensure that my current job uses the same skills and training I got from my previous job (graduate student), he read it and nodded his head while reading it and asked whether the current employer is the same as the original employer, I said no and my lawyer added that my case was NIW. then that's it, no more employment questions. he didn't question my work, nor my title.

the following question is just formula, no tricky question at all. then without telling us he is going to approve it, he started to stamp our passports. end of it. he made a copy of the passports and the stamps, gave them back to us. we got our green card.

he took the following documents:
last 3 year tax return, W2 (photocopy)
employment letter
my rental lease agreement
checked my driver license
previous EAD and AP
I-94s

he didn't check/take:
marriage cretificate
birth certificate
bank account statement
last 3 pay checks ( very surprised)
degree diplomas
I-485 receipt or I-140 receipt (he has them in his file already)

Thanks to all members and wish you all good luck

In such a beautiful morning, my online message changed to case being approved!!

It took 110 days to be approved after 2nd FP & RFE completed. Most likely I was trapped by the "name check". In my opinion, most of Chinese names in English spelling are very similar to each other, so the chance to get a "hit" during name check is high. Maybe attach a copy of driver's license to each application and the response to RFE will be a good idea. Driver's license provides some physical descriptions, which may help identifying you from the one in the criminal database.

I would like to thank PCee, off-patience, Kashmir, and Tasse for all your wonderful contributions to this forum.

Can't remember my exact details but

ND - around Feb 16th 2002

Finger prints some how got delayed until Nov 2002, (they didn't send me a notice, and the lawyer had to query them).

Case transfered Dec 19th 2003 to San Jose.
Jan 22nd 2003 - 2nd finger print notification arrived
Jan 23rd 2003 - Interview notice arrived

Feb 24th - interview @ san jose, approved.

I had a DUI. They asked me if I had ever been arrested. I said yes. They said, what for? I said DUI. They said Don't do it again. and that was pretty much it, on to the next subject....

The interview went well, pretty straightforward.
Good luck to the rest of you. I hope your patience pays off soon.
