CSA - B1 visa rejected-ps help

The US consulate in Chennai rejected my B1(visitor) visa application pointing out that I will be a potential immigrant. I need to get to US by Jan 10 for my CSA. They didn\'t check any documents of mine - be it exam scores or financial documents.

They just asked a few questions - what are you doing right now (I said I was working in a clinic), what my salary was (Rs 20000), why do you want to go (CSA), how long will you be gone, will you get back as soon as you are done(said I will wait for the results) etc.
I am devastated. I can now apply by post, but am not sure what the chances are. Help appreciated.

Thanks,
Ibbu

not fair!

I don\'t understand why they have to reject your visa. The problem lies in that this exam is being conducted only in USA and that all IMGs have to come here. people from other countries are able to come easily to take up the exam.
Are you married with children? Maybe that helps when they know that you are leaving your family behind?? or maybe you could have only asked for a tourist visa and not mentioned about CSA?
I am not sure what would make them give a visa when they are not giving it even for the true reasons!!

Yeah Pooj,
I thought it was a pretty straight forward case.

No, I am single. Yes, a family status might have helped me.
