Crossing into US with Expired Registration

Hi All,
I am a US resident drove into Canada.By the time I get back to the US border crossing my vehicle registration would have expired, I own the car and have title. Will their be issues with driving a car with expired registration?

No problem with CBP, but highway patrol along the route might stop you if they find out.
