The definition of relative is not clearly defined in the application form. For the Buffalo centre uncle is defined as a close relative. Can my wifes fathers cousin brother classify as her close relative ?? What kind of proof would they want ? Basically my father in laws grandfather and the uncles grandfather are the same person . But it would be hard to find birth certficates of these people. Anybody has any experience please share ?
 
I dont think that would hold.

By relative I think it means your immediate ones. i.e. spouse, parents, brothers and sisters under age of 19. I am sponsoring my mother and brother as her dependant.

For far off relatives you would have to contact a lawyer and see if they have a way out.
 
CLARIFICATION TO MY QUESTION

I am applying under Independent category and want to use the Uncle to get the 5 extra points I need . It is this context that I asked whether I can get 5 points credit for my Wifes Uncle. He has been in Canada for a very long time.
