Latest in the rounds making is Sachin would be a new captain. Offcourse, backed by Sharad Pawar. Hard to digest this news though.
 
atleast one 'kar' ending name has to be in the team always. gavaskar, tendulkar, vengsarkar.

moronics....dont tell me out of all the states only mumbai has the best players. no offense to mumbaikars...but this is like national prestige issue now.

I do not mind if all the 11 players are from mumbai or guwahati. We need to win that is the bottom line.

Why should we have an aging player as the captain, is he Ricky Ponting. Can't even cross double digits against bangladesh. Make him a captain my foot.

Ever since that new coach came, new management took over, we are going down hill.

Even after this World cup debacle, the new Indian team would surely pick up mumbaikar's (Tendulkar, Agarkar, etc).

There is more objectivity here on this thread than on cricinfo or in any Indian sports journalist's column. Even after that SA match, cricinfo said: Tendulkar got an incisive delivery. Yeah right :) How come it is always Tendulkar who gets the "unplayable" balls, when lesser players like Dravid and Ganguly and Dhoni manage to play them? The truth is Tendulkar has been a fifth-rate batsman for the last five or 6 years, but Indians worship him. How can you call god fifth rate?

The WC has lost its soul!

The unsolved murder of Bob Woolmer, The shocking performances and subsequent exit of Pakistan and then India (the most popularly followed teams in the WC), the empty stands from ticket overpricing and building 20-30K capacity stadiums in countries with population of 60-70K. Now the host WI team on the verge of exit. Even worse the same old steamrolling from the Aussies that all teams so far are receiving.

I am going for the last 2 weeks, including the semis and finals. I planned this months ago! I am taking the small chance with the US reentry etc and spending a lot of money too. Honestly, I could not have scripted it worse. What a debacle. Don't know who to blame, the organisers, the players, the lopsided strength of the teams or what.

Ah well, atleast it is in the sun, sea and sand of the Caribbean. That's the one consolation. A bottle of rum on a white sand beach, should drown out all troubles even the retrogression woes. Who knows they may even agree on a immigration bill by the time I return! Nothing else seems to be going right, better to dream than not.

they might agree on an immigration bill before you get back. the chances of that are definitely higher than anything good happening to Indian cricket: what with non-performers like Tendulkar driving Chappell away --- just because he was going to speak the truth... what a shame
