CR1 Administrative Processing

I am married to a US citizen and had my CR1 interview yesterday at the American Embassy. The interview went very well. After the interview the Consular said he has to do background check and will call me within one week. He kept all my documents including passport. In the paper he gave me, it says "Administrative Processing". I am wondering whether this is part of the normal process or I am being subjected to further scrutiny. When I check over the internet, there are people saying administrative process takes minimum of 45 days. Please share your thoughts and experiences with me. Thanks in advance.

Basically the consulate is not ready to make a final determination on your case. It seems your background check has not come through. It is also possible that the consulate wants to ensure that your relationship with the sponsor is genuine. That is why I asked for your citizenship and the consulate. You ended up at a "difficult" consulate. Hopefully, whatever it is, will be wrapped up real soon and you will get your immigrant visa.

Perhaps they just want to know your connection to Linda Lovelace :)

In a perfect situation, do they give you CR1 Visa right after the interview or tell you to come back after x number of days.

Dude, I have a same story like you, but at my time of interview I could't provide them the Proof of Relationship, orignal Divorce Decree and they objected on the financial status of my wife so they asked me to provide a CO-SPONSOR or show a LIQUID ASSET and told me that I dont need to come in person I can mail these docs along with the passport to embassy, so last week went to embassy and submitted my docs in person along with my passport, but they gave me a BLUE CARD TOKEN printed "Collect Passport" and said that your case will be reviewed and you will informed when to collect your passport.

so I am also kind of in the same boat like you...hope for best man.....

I was well prepared for the interview and had all the required documents including pictures, correspondence, etc. The interview was great. At the end of it, the consular just said he has to do background check and gave me a paper which states administrative processing and said he will contact me within a week. So I am hoping that it is just a routine background check and I will be able to join my wife in the States soon. Peace out!!!!
