CPT to H1B (Have not defended my thesis yet)

Hi,

Currently I am doing full time internship on CPT (Curricular Practical Training)

I started my CPT on 16th May, 2004.

My CPT is valid till 31st January 2005.

My I-20 is valid till August 2005. My F-1 is valid till 2007.

From February 1, 2005, I can either apply for OPT or I can apply for H1B

I want to apply for H1B immediately since this year’s quota is about to end soon.

However, I have not defended my thesis yet. I have completed all the course requirements though. I can submit official transcripts from Graduate School stating that I have completed my Course Requirements.

Do you think I can apply for H1B on my Masters Degree ?

Or do you feel that I should wait and get my MS degree first ? (This option is always open for me because I can avail 1 year of OPT from Feb 05 to Feb 06)

Hi,
I'm also sailing in the same boat.
My CPT expires in May 2005.
I finished my course work, but didnt defend my thesis yet.
Should I ask my comany to start the H1b process right now? Or should I wait for my OPT?
I'm in a fix.
Please help me!!!!
