CPT (severe economic hardship) to OPT

my work permit (CPT/severe economic hardship) started June 1, 2007 and is valid for a year. I will be graduating December 2007 and will be applying for OPT. Would my present work permit (CPT/severe economic hardship basis)that will be valid till June 2008 be cancelled as soon as i apply for OPT in September or October 2007 or....???
