CP when a 485 application is pending

My husband has a 485 application pending with VSC which was filed as a dependent on my 485 application.

Recently his company agreed to proceed with 140/485 application.
We would like to pursue both of our GC processes.

question:
1. Can my husband go the CP route without jeopardizing his 485 application.

2. Can a person have two 485 applications pending with INS - onw through his employer and another one through his spouse.

1. Can my husband go the CP route without jeopardizing his 485 application.
---- If his earlier I-485 is pending as derivative based on your I-140 then he can file new I-140 for CP and derivative I-485 will continue or he can also file his I-485 as principal and you as derivative it means you both will have two I-485 pending at the same time and nothing illegal in that. Once the earlier filed or any I-485 is approved then pending I-485 automatically becomes void
2. Can a person have two 485 applications pending with INS - onw through his employer and another one through his spouse.
