CP to AOS

Hello,

Is there a way to change from CP to AOS? Will there be any adverse affects on my application if one changes from CP to AOS? How long does it take? What forms do I need to fill in and whats the fee? Please advise.

Answer: Write a letter to BCIS & NVC stating you would like to end your cp process and instead would like to proceed with AOs and file necessary form for AOS process!

Answer: No adverse effect other than with CP you would get GC in 6- 8 months and with AOS it will take 2.5 + years!

I concur with KD1403 on all the points.

Only have your attorney write a formal letter along with Case No. details to USCIS and NVC and stating that you would like cancel CP process.

Based on the service centers that you would like to submit applications, the time-period will very. Vermont is now taking more than 2 years, Texas almost 3 years!! and waiting time gets worse every month!!
 
I too changed from CP to AOS by sending letter (from my attorney) to BCIS to withdraw I -824 (my I140 was approved on 485 and had sent I824 for change to CP) so that I can apply for 485. Subsequently, have applied for 485 and got EAD & AP. Waiting for the final approval .....

Hope I won't get any problem in 485 approval...

Is there time delay if you change from CP to 485 like say 3,4 months becoz NVC have to create the file for 485 .I have heard something of this kind but not sure.
