Have got my interview at Mumbai on December 16

Few questions :

1) Is it okay if my wife & I come back to USA on different dates.

She already has her tickets booked & wants to stay in India for longer (as usual) so we will end up coming separetly after our interview.

2) Does POE matter for both of US. My POE is New York but may end up coming back to different city depedning upon the availaibility of tickets.

3) Is it okay to have different designations (Positions) in Appointment Letter & Employment letter ?


4) I have stayed here in US for 4 years as of now while my wife is here since less then a year. We already have our PC from Indian consulate. Is it necessary for us to have Police clearence from India ?

5) Have read OF-171 on few postings , what is it ??

6) How long does it take to get Appointment for medical tests in Mumbai ?? Do we need any vaccination details ??


Any other guidelines are welcome.

yes as long as she does not stay past 6 months after interview

Your designation should be the same as you Labor Certification

As far as i know it is not necessary PC from US should do. To satisfy yourself send them an email. I did as my wife had the same situation as yours and they replied says PCC from indian consulate in US would suffice

You can get it immediately over the phone. Yes you need vaccation details otherwise be prepared to spend money on vacanations. You do get the MMR shot they will also ask you if you had chicken pox if you say no thats RS1500 per person shot.

{It does not matter. She can come later. Only stipulation
is you should enter first and she should enter before the
6 months}

{It should not. They may ask you where you live. If asked
you should just have the right answer, like not getting
tickets etc. }

{It does not matter. Your appointment letter would show
your current position and the employment letter would
mention your position once you get your Immigrant visa}

{By less than 1 year, I would assume it is not as little as
1 month or so. It is difficult to get a correct answer for this.
But if a person is currently in US, the PCC obtained from the
Consulate is the only one required}

{That is the form number for the appointment letter. You
would get it in Packet 4}

6) How long does it take to get Appointment for medical tests in Mumbai ?? Do we need any vaccination details ??

{Not familiar with Mumbai physicals. However you can just
call them and get an appointment whenever you need.
Carry vaccination records if you have them. Otherwise
also no issue}

What do we need for CP

Tax return Transcript of Form 1040 + Forms W2 information that is available free from IRS

or

Copy of tax form and all attachements (including forms w2 , schedules & other forms) that is charged $23/year.

You need your W2 and tax transcripts which are free. However i was not asked for mine at the mumbai consulate. Maybe you will so better carry it

Ok That Helps . Thanks alot.

I called up IRS & requested to mail me the Transcripts on IRS Letterhead that is free. It will take about 15 Business days Max. Hope to get it before I leave for Mumbai.
