CP interview scheduling

Hi
I have the following questions related to CP:
1)If Consulate accepts my Green card CP papers sent from NVC will IT DETERMINE the interview date or can I pick MY OWN PREFERRED DATE which is available?
2)If the answer to the above question is "I can pick my own preferred date which is available", is there any TIME RESTRICTION that the interview date has to be picked once the consulate accepts my papers and is ready to interview me ie Is there any timeline like I have to interviewed within 6 months or 1 yr after the consulate is ready to interview me?
3)Assuming that I have applied for I-140 in CP and it is STILL PENDING. Can I switch to AOS(adjustment of status) now and if so what is the PROCEDURE and will it affect the PROCESSING TIMES in I-140 and I-485?

thanks for your reply.

{The date is fixed by the consulate. In few cases where the
candidate requests for postponement, they may allow him/
her to come on any day in that particular month }

{If you have applied your I-140 with CP option and now
decide to go for AOS, then you just file your 485 and
since your I-140 is not approved still, this counts as
concurrent process. May not affect the 485 process}

thanks for your reply.
