cp in chennai- can I change my interview date

Hi,
 I have opted for CP at Chennai and waiting for the date, what are the chances that the embassy will allow me to postpone this date say by a day or two or even by a week. For eg. Can I go the next day instead of the allocated date. I am trying to find this since my sister’s marriage is fixed and my cp interview date at Chennai may fall on the same date(God forbid!). However if it does happen to fall on the same date, by staying in India, can I go the next day or a couple of days later. Please give me suggestions on how best I can handle this.

I believe it is not possible to delay a day or two or even a week. Chennai takes all most a month or two to reschedule your interview.
 
Once the date is set, they generally donot change it within the same month

It will be treated as a new case, therefore 2 months later. If you know your sisters marriage date you could send a request to the consulate for a date before/after that. It is a very small chance, but they may consider it.

Thanks, Rajesh. At what point should I request the chennai consulate for a date preference. Right now the national visa center said they have assigned me a case number and are mailing me a package(wonder what documents), once they receive these documents back they will intimate chennai consulate that my case is clear. do you think after I send the documents to NVC, wait for couple of weeks before making a date request with chennai, or later.
