Coverted from h1b to h4 through consular. when does my status change? when to stop my payroll run?

Hi, I’m on h1b visa valid till september 2025 and i came to india ( departure from US Feb 13th 2025) and went for h4 visa interview on March 5th 2025 and got issued. I’m returning back to US on April 4th 2025. when will my status change to H4? is it on issues date (mar 5th) or US entry date (April 4th). And till when should i run my payroll on h1b? is it till feb 13th (departure date from US) or only before h4 issued date (mar 4th) or till US entry

You don't have status while outside the US. So you cease to be on H1b status when you leave the US. And when you enter, you will have a new status that depends on the visa you present (e.g. if you enter on an H4 visa you will enter into H4 status).
